The Sultans of Istanbul Tango Marathon & Festival’s – Los Galacticos Edition! was joyously celebrated in November 2024.

Numerous beautiful tandas, heartfelt emotions, inspiring words, videos, and photographs have been shared, capturing the essence of these incredible 11 editions. We are immensely grateful to everyone who has joined us in recent years.

Our Spring Edition is scheduled for April 23 – 27, 2025. It will maintain the beloved marathon format of previous years, enhanced with some innovative and exciting ideas.

Sultans of Istanbul Spring Tango Marathon: A Uniquely Enchanting Experience

We aspire to create the most cherished tango marathon, and with this in mind, we’ve crafted something extraordinary just for you.

The Sultans event kicks off with a Wednesday Pre Party Night Milonga and culminates in the Sunday After Party Night Milonga. We will have an exhilarating 50 hours of tango throughout the event.

One of the most important aspects of this edition is the seamless combination of venue and accommodation in the heart of Istanbul, all within the same hotel. Dancing in the elegant Dedeman Ballroom offers an unparalleled experience of comfort and convenience. In less than a minute, you can transition effortlessly from the tranquility of your room to the vibrant energy of the ballroom. The hotel also features a luxurious spa, ideal for unwinding between dances. Located in the heart of Istanbul, the Dedeman provides the perfect setting for our tango marathon while offering easy access to the city’s many attractions, ensuring an unforgettable experience.

If you’re captivated by our concept and wish to participate in the event, you’ll need to follow a simple process. First, register, then await an acceptance email, and finally, receive our official confirmation.

Please hold off on making any arrangements until you have received both the acceptance and confirmation emails. We distribute marathon packages considering factors such as gender, nationality, dance proficiency, and other meticulously selected criteria.

To join the marathon milongas and workshops, you must register online for the specific packages. Note that there will be no on-the-spot ticket sales for these milongas.

You have the option to register with or without accommodation. However, for the most enriching Sultanic experience, we highly recommend choosing the accommodation option at our designated event hotel.

DJ Cast

For this event, we have curated an exceptional lineup of talented tango DJs from across Europe, each bringing their unique style and energy to the dance floor. Their expertise and passion for tango music will create an unforgettable atmosphere, setting the perfect rhythm for every moment of the marathon.

Our Special Artists

Iconic Maestra Giselle Anne will be with us to share her knowledge and teach during the morning sessions of the marathon weekend. She will also perform a special show on Sunday with Utku Küley to celebrate his 20th anniversary in tango.

 All levels: individual exercises to practice balance, rhythm & shapes through different combinations.

We have also invited one of the most promising couples of the future, the Athens-based duo Lucas Gauto and Naima Gerasopoulou, for a Thursday night show. They achieved 4th place in the 2024 World Tango Pista, and we believe even greater successes await them in the future.

Marathon Package Options

Access to the Friday (Day & Night), Saturday (Day & Night), and Sunday (Day) milongas is exclusive to those with a marathon package. As such, individual milonga tickets for these events will not be available for purchase on the spot.

We carefully allocate all marathon packages based on our selection criteria, which include a balanced representation of gender and nationality, dance experience, and a positive attitude towards fellow dancers.

We welcome both single and couple registrations. Please note that the type of registration – single or couple – does not influence acceptance. However, do keep in mind that the number of single registrations is limited for both followers and leaders.

Participants have two primary options: registering with or without an accommodation pass.

Marathon Pass Without Accommodation

First time in Sultans Marathon Pack
This package is designed for friends joining the Sultans for the first time. The early bird price for the marathon pass without accommodation is set at 140€*.

The pass covers access to the milongas beginning with the Friday Day Milonga and concluding with the Sunday Afternoon Milonga.

Marathon Pass With Accommodation By Us

Marathon pass holders who select the Marathon Pass with Accommodation package can attend both day and night milongas for the nights they are staying at the event hotel. A minimum stay of 2 nights is required.

Due to a limited number of rooms with twin beds, we will not offer a ‘find me a roommate’ option this time. You may consider staying in a single room, or alternatively, share a room with a king-size bed with a tango friend.

If your check-in and check-out dates differ from your roommate’s, the one staying longer must pay the extra room cost for the additional nights.

Please note, after the first 60 rooms are booked, hotel policy necessitates an increase in room prices. All price adjustments apply once more than 60 rooms are reserved.

Breakfast is not included in our room rates. However, you can opt for a room add breakfast option at the registration desk upon arrival.

Accommodation is restricted to tango participants only, with the exception of children aged 0-6 years. For children older than 6 years, an additional charge of 15€ per night applies for an extra bed.

Room bookings for participants with accommodation will be managed through our registration system. To avoid double bookings, please refrain from making reservations independently.

Non-Marathon Milongas (Pre & After Parties)

Tickets for the Wednesday 30 €, Thursday 30 €, and Sunday 30 € night milongas will be available for purchase at the event.

The Thursday day milonga is open and free for everyone.

Event Program

Our delightful gathering will commence on Wednesday, April 23 th, and conclude with the Sunday Night Milonga on April 27nd. Over these five days, we will enjoy more than 50 hours of dancing.

Saturday and Sunday mornings we will have wonderful workshops with Giselle Anne.

Event Hotel – Dedeman Hotel Istanbul Gayrettepe

The Dedeman Hotel Istanbul, located in Gayrettepe, is not only the venue for the Thursday through Sunday milongas of the Sultans of Istanbul Spring Tango Mvent but also the hotel where accommodations will be arranged.
